My night skincare routine

Today I want to share with you my night skincare routine. I’m lucky I never had severe skin problems but I have a very sensitive skin that can burst into pimples at any time if I use the wrong products. I managed to replace some of the good but very expensive skincare products that I bought in pharmacy for some cheaper but still very efficient products you can find in supermarkets. With time, and patience, I finally found a routine that works for me  so without further ado, here is my night skincare routine !

I start with the Instant eye makeup remover from Clarins. It works to instantly erase every last trace of make-up, including long-wearing and waterproof formulas. The lotion is enriched with rose and cornflower waters which work to moisturise and soothe the skin. The ultra fine oils have a softening effect and enhance the cleanser ability so no need to rub the coton pad on your eyes like a crazy person ! Little plus : it doesn’t sting the eyes, and is suitable for contact lens wearers.

Then I wash off my makeup with the Nivea Aqua Effect foam designed for dry and sensitive skin (you can find different version depending on your skin type). It is enriched with almond oil and Hydra IQ technology which provide gentle cleansing of the face and retain the natural balance of moisture. After pressing the pump, the liquid turns into a light foam. It must be gently massaged into the face and neck and removed with warm water. It smells good, leaves the skin clean and clear. Once or twice a week, I use one of my brushes. I purchased them at Primark (very cheap but efficient!) and I gently do circle moves to softly rub the skin and deep cleanse it.

I finish off the makeup removing phase with the Bioderma Crealine H2O. I used to use the Nivea miscellar cleansing water so I alternate from time to time so my skin won’t get used to the same routine (it would reduce the effects of the product). The Bioderma’s formula is without perfume, alcohol and paraben, it cleans your skin gently, while protecting irritation. It fights redness which is good when your skin is daily agressed with pollution, heat, air conditionner etc. In one word, it’s a very good product, respectful to the skin and you have 3 versions available in pharmacy depending on your skin type.

Finishing with applying some cream. I alternate between the Caudalie firming serum and the Skin Therapy oil face from Palmer’s. They’re two very different anti-wrinkle products. I start them a few months ago, since I turned 25 years old I have to start using firming or anti-wrinkle cream/serum to prevent skin aging.

=> The Palmer’s dry oil leaves a very thin oily layer on the skin and is made of 10 pure precious oils, Retinol, Vitamin C and the Cetesomate-E® Complex along with natural Cocoa Butter. It delivers multi-purpose, anti-aging skin benefits. The oils help moisturize and smooth fine lines and wrinkles while Retinol and Vitamin C help improve and brighten the skin tone and texture. This lightweight, non-greasy formula absorbs quickly. It smells good (like roses) and I definitely see a difference when I use it, my skin is clearer, homogeneous and brighter. My skin looks “younger” with a more glowing and firm appearance.

=> The Caudalie firming serum is oil-free, lightweight, and is rapidly absorbed into the skin. This serum is supposed to stop fine lines from turning into wrinkles by smoothing skin. This antioxidant infused serum blocks 100% of free radicals, which cause four out of five wrinkles, as well as defend the skin against the aggressions of daily life : UV rays, cigarette smoke, pollution, and more. It is enriched with hyaluronic acid and olive squalane to hydrate and plump the skin, giving an instantly smooth effect. When I apply it, it drys off very quickly and I can feel that my skin is more “tensed”. Of course the results are to be tested out on the long term but so far I really like how it affects my skin and I can notice an improvement.

Last but not least, for the deep hydratation I use the Nivea sensitive night creamThe caring formula enriched with Licorice Extract, known for its anti-inflammatory properties,  and precious Grape Seed Oil. It helps calm the skin at night, instantly relieves the skin of unpleasant feelings of tightness, it provides intensive moisture and helps strengthen the skin barrier. It also supports the skin’s regeneration process at night and provides a relaxed skin feeling in the morning. The cream is very thick and I am not very fond of the smell but the skin feels deeply moisturized et pulped the next morning when I wake up.
